NIHILOXICA
Kudistro
It’s been more than three years since they released any new music, and Nihiloxica aren’t just rehashing old tricks here. They’re going for it. Kudistro puts (band member/producer) pq’s ripping, distorted laser-gun synth work right to the foreground - creating a dense polyrhythmic pattern loosely inspired by the kuduro sound of Angola, from which the track takes its name. Bugandan drums sing through layers of rude distortion and compression never before seen in a Nihiloxica track. Spooky-J remains resolute on drum kit and samples, conducting the groove in his typically minimal fashion. This is not just any Bugandan techno. This is Nihiloxica in their purest, rawest and most concentrated form yet.

The Crammed Electronic Archives series
As the Crammed Discs label turns 43, we’re highlighting certain folds of our catalogue which have now somewhat receded into the shade. Aside from the reactivated Made To Measure composers’ series, we’re digging into electronic music trends we explored during the ’80s and ‘90s by digitally releasing around 250 tracks which only ever came out on vinyl (or on now-deleted CDs). These digital reissues are being rolled out over a couple of years, in several phases, each consisting of a compilation plus several related EPs:
Phase 1: Rare SSR Electronica 1988-94 (Crammed Archives 1) - out now
Phase 2: Rare Global Pop 1980s (Crammed Archives 2) - out now
Phase 3: Rare Electronica 1994-01 (Crammed Archives 3) - in progress
Phase 4: Rare Electronica B-sides 1988-97 (Crammed Archives 4): soon
